Our goal in beginning the annual Shriners Hospitals Run for the Children is to bring awareness to the need of children whom we represent. This is an excellent opportunity for others to come together in a healthy arena encouraging the acknowledgement of the children, their families, our hospitals, and their staff. We also want to bring exposure to our organization to encourage membership and the awareness of our efforts to our cause. We can all use a little exercise. So, let's do some in their shoes...bringing a higher quality of life... to everyone.

It is the mission of Shriners Hospitals for Children to:

Provide the highest quality care to children with neuromusculoskeletal conditions, burn injuries and certain other special health care needs within a compassionate, family-centered and collaborative care environment.

Provide for the education of physicians and other health care professionals.

Conduct research to discover new knowledge that improves the quality of life of children and families.

This mission is carried out without cost to the patient or family and without regard to financial need or relationship to a Shriner. In the United States, there are 22 Shriners Hospitals specializing in orthopedic and burn care. Since 1922, over 500,000 children have been in the care of one of our hospitals. We have paid every bill. Help us continue.

The Shriners of Hadi Temple are pleased to hold the run events to benefit the Children's Shrine Hospitals on Sunday, May 22nd, 2010. We invite runners, walkers, volunteers, and sponsors to join us in our cause to raise awareness of the critical need for funds to continue the hospitals' healing programs.

2010 is our second annual event, and we hold as our goal to have 500 participants in our 5 K Run/Walk for the Children and our 1 Mile Challenge to Walk in their Shoes. We hope to have 200 children participate. Also, we anticipate over 50 volunteers and with all Units of the Hadi Temple to participate in function and volunteer. We hope the participants will learn more about the mission of the Shriners in their efforts to support the not-for-profit hospitals.
